Between September 9th – 11th Oakmed will be heading down to the ICC in Birmingham to exhibit at the 6th annual meeting of the Association of Stoma Care Nurses UK (ASCN UK). We’re looking forward to exhibiting our products and talking with the nurses on the frontline, as well as an exciting programme, this year themed ‘Breaking Barriers and Enhancing Relationships’.
As always, the conference will feature insightful workshops, seminars and talks. This year Sunday’s key events are based on ‘bridging the dementia gap in stoma care’, held by ASCN UK Area Reps, Michaela Parker and Carolyn Swash, and ‘sexual intimacy and function’, which will be led by Lorraine Grover, Psychosexual Nurse Specialist at the London Clinic.
On Monday there will be open mic clinical case studies as well as a session on ‘breaking barriers and enhancing relationships’, as well as a keynote address from Lorraine Grover following up on her workshop. There will also be sessions on ‘challenging the status quo or service delivery’ and ‘adding a spotlight onto specialist practice’. Finally, the much-anticipated award presentations where there will be three categories up for grabs:
- Stoma Care Nurse of the Year
- New Presenters Award
- Urostomy Research Award
The final day of the conference fall on Tuesday, where attendees can take part in a breakfast workshop, as well as sessions on ‘breaking down the barriers’, ‘advancing surgical and collaborative practice’ and ‘clinical practice’.
